The Wandering Writer

History doesn't just live in books — it clings to the dust, the brick, and the silence. I follow it wherever it hides.

Across the South, history lingers — not just in old fields and forgotten roads, but inside the walls of crumbling courthouses, quiet museums, and overgrown graveyards.

I travel these backroads and hidden corners, searching for the places where stories still breathe. From battlefield markers to broken headstones, every site leaves its mark — and every mark finds its way into my fiction.

These are the ghosts behind the stories.

Episode 8

In the quiet hills of rural Kentucky, where the land rolls soft and the air feels heavy with history, a single cabin tells the story of a boy who would change a nation.

This is Abraham Lincoln’s birthplace — not just a monument to a president, but a window into the humble beginnings that shaped the soul of America.

Join me as we step back to the early 1800s and explore the ground where Lincoln’s story first took root.

Episode 7

In the rolling hills of Tennessee, far from the roar of battlefields and the eyes of history, stands the humble home of Sergeant Alvin C. York — one of America’s most decorated heroes of the First World War.

A farmer, a reluctant soldier, and a symbol of courage, York’s life is rooted deeply in this quiet valley.

Join me as we walk the same ground, step into his family home, and trace the story of a man whose bravery changed the course of history.

Episode 6

In a small corner of Alabama, history took flight — and with it, the hopes of a nation struggling to find its conscience.

Here at the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site, we stand where young Black pilots trained against all odds, breaking barriers in the skies and on the ground.

Today, we walk the runways where courage was tested, and honor the legacy of the men who helped change the course of American history.

Episode 5

In the quiet heart of Clio, Alabama, behind locked doors and fading memories, stands the George C. Wallace Museum — a place where history feels unsettled.

Once a symbol of pride, now a shuttered reminder of a complex legacy, this building holds the echoes of one of America's most controversial political figures.

Today, in an exclusive visit, we walk through the silence — exploring not just the story of George Wallace, but the deeper history of a changing South.

Episode 4

Tucked into the quiet pines of Warm Springs, Georgia, stands the Little White House — a place where a weary president came seeking peace, and where his story came to a close.

Built during some of America's darkest hours, these walls witnessed hope, struggle, and the final chapter of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s life.

Today, we step inside the rooms where history held its breath — and where a nation’s future was forever changed.

Episode 3

Before smartphones were in every hand, before fast passes went digital, and before the world changed a hundred times over — there was still the magic.

In 2007, the Magic Kingdom was a place where wonder lived in every corner, and the world felt just a little more innocent.

Join me as we step back into a day at Disney’s Magic Kingdom — a day of castles, parades, and memories that still shine a little brighter.

Episode 2

In the quiet fields of southwest Georgia, the earth still carries the weight of sorrow.

Here at Andersonville, thousands of Union soldiers lived — and died — within the wooden walls of a prison built to hold suffering itself.

Today, we walk the ground where hope was scarce, survival was a daily fight, and where the cost of war is written into the very soil.

Episode 1

In the quiet town of Plains, Georgia, the story of a peanut farmer, a president, and a lifelong public servant unfolds.

Here at the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, history isn’t told with grand monuments — it's found in a small schoolhouse, a modest church, and the dusty streets that shaped a boy into a world leader.

Today, we walk through the places where faith, family, and a commitment to service took root — and where that spirit still lingers in every corner of Plains.
